Alrihkh This sampler has a lot of great artists with top-tier songs on it. However, I will state that it wasn’t my intention to support music that blatantly glorifies Satan & has blasphemous lyrics such as ‘Me and That Man’ has. Very good musicianship and good-sounding music on here, elsewise. Hard to pick a fave from the worthy offerings. Songs by Jinjir, Hällas, Delain, & the Vintage Caravan all vie for the honour.
7.5/10. Favorite track: Wallflower.

Over twenty years ago, a story of success began in the Austrian town of Eisenerz. What started out as a one-person operation in a cramped living room became one of the biggest record labels of the independent rock and metal scene. Today, the Napalm Records Handels GmbH headquarters and center of operations remain located in Eisenerz, Austria, with additional offices established in New York, NY, USA and Berlin, Germany.

In the beginning, Napalm Records focused mainly on black metal releases, but didn’t stop there. Never shying away from unexplored paths of innovative musical styles and genres, the label cultivated and supported artists that would later become known as legendary pioneers and originators of the Pagan/folk metal scene, and remains an unparalleled source for the discovery of such artists to this day. Over the course of the following years, Napalm Records expanded their search for new talent, widening their roster and genre-focus considerably by adding various styles of metal to their ever-growing list. Today, rock and metal mammoths such as POWERWOLF, ALTER BRIDGE, CANDLEMASS, ACCEPT, JINJER, SATYRICON, DEE SNIDER, EVERGREY and HAMMERFALL are signed to Napalm Records. Their diverse roster proves the strength of the label - both discovering and establishing new talent and further bolstering renowned icons to metalize a whole new generation of fans.

Paul Rote surely has a point. It's absolutely amazing how many good things prog are coming from Norway. I already have many of the songs features in this compilation in my collection (be it Bandcampy digital or old-schooly physical formats), but for sheer sympathy I couldn't pass this NYP offer. If you're a prog fan and haven't noticed the Norwegian prog scene yet (er, is that possible?) check it out. Definitely! And this is a great starting point... Carsten Pieper
